Miriam Szubin
Director of Children and Family Programming and Preschool Admissions
Miriam Szubin is the Director of Children and Family Programs. She has worked at the EDCJCC since 2007, building and running programs that provide families with the support, guidance, and enrichment needed to raise young children in the city. She currently directs the Parenting Center, which includes Child and Caregiver Classes, Parent Workshops, Jewish Family Engagement programs, and Before Baby and Family Building programs. She also oversees the Camp and After School departments and serves as the Director of Admissions for our Preschool. From 2007-2020, she taught the EDCJCC’s adult Introduction to Judaism class and she serves as an occasional informal “Jew-aturg” (advisor on Judaism) to Theater J. Miriam’s professional experience before the EDCJCC included teaching high school history at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School and working in the education department of the National Portrait Gallery. She has a Masters in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and a B.A. in American Studies from Yale. She lives in Washington DC with her husband and her three sons, all of whom have participated happily in EDCJCC’s Children and Family programs.
