Overview

The Sara & Samuel J. Lessans Good Deeds Day is an international day of service that amplifies the value of giving back to our communities. Since 2007, millions of people from thousands of businesses, nonprofits, schools, families, and individual good-doers have taken part. Good Deeds Day is celebrated in over 110 countries worldwide and is growing every year!

Good Deeds Day: Welcoming New Neighbors
10:30 AM–12:00 PM
We will hear from a recently-arrived refugee and a policy expert who will discuss the refugee and asylum landscape, then assemble toiletry kits and other essential items for immigrants and asylum-seekers in the DC area. Open to volunteers ages 12+.

Handmade for the Homeless: Good Deeds Day Edition
10:30 AM–12:30 PM
Join fellow knitters and crocheters to make warm winter items for individuals experiencing homelessness in the DC area. All levels of knitters and crocheters are welcome.

Teen Volunteer Project: Good Deeds Day Edition
12:00 PM–3:00 PM
Join other teens ages 12-18 to visit Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home to provide companionship and fun to residents there. Meet at the JCC for an orientation with transportation provided to and from the project.
