Bad Shabbos

Dates : May 8, 2025 — May 15, 2025

Duration : 1 hours 24 minutes

David and his fiancée Meg expect a quiet Shabbat dinner with his family on New York’s Upper West Side—but when an accidental death (or murder?) derails the evening, chaos ensues. With Meg’s Catholic parents about to meet David’s Jewish family, the night quickly spirals into a comedy of biblical proportions.

Opening Night: Bad Shabbos

Daniel Robbins’ entertaining, fast-paced comedy about a Sabbath dinner gone terribly awry won the top audience prize at the Tribeca Festival. While this dysfunctional Jewish family tries to balance the polarities of secular and religious lives, along with the dilemma of a dead body in the bathroom, Robbins and his longtime co-writer Zack Weiner up the comedy ante by stirring in an inter-faith culture clash and an overly intrepid doorman.

“A strong ensemble cast (including Kyra Sedgwick) nails the tasty dialogue and increasingly frantic action without falling into shtick.” — VARIETY
