January LaVoy wins Helen Hayes Award
Congratulations to January LaVoy for winning a Helen Hayes Award for Best Lead Performance in a Play for her role in Theater J’s production of Fires in the Mirror: Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and Other Identities by Anna Deavere Smith.
The 37th Helen Hayes Awards celebration took place on Monday, May 22, 2023 at The Anthem on the District Wharf in Southwest Washington, DC.
Named for actor Helen Hayes — a Washington native and legendary First Lady of the American Theatre — the Helen Hayes Awards, a core program of Theatre Washington, has honored excellence in professional theatre throughout the Washington region for more than three decades.
