Ballet: 

Pre-K-2nd grade
Introducing After School Ballet at the EDJCC. Children will participate in a group ballet class. They will learn technique and choreography in the area of ballet

Chess:
 

Pre-K-6th grade
Lessons taught by Zivorad Djuric, ranked FIDE Master by the World Chess Federation (which goes by the French acronym FIDE), and one of only ten FIDE Instructors registered at US Chess Federation. Zivorad has experience teaching children, including his own daughters. Learning to play chess has many benefits including: developing memory and logical thinking, promoting imagination and creativity, improving concentration. Class times are subject to change based on enrollment.

Karate: 

Pre-K-6th grade
All karate classes are tailored to student’s individual needs and helps them grow to their fullest potential possible. Karate classes not only focus on instruction, but also learning valuable lessons related to discipline, motivation, self-control, and the student's continual improvement. When students are not in class they will have opportunities for games, sports, and homework time. Class times are subject to change based on enrollment.

Piano and/or Guitar Lessons:

Pre-K-6th grade
Learn piano and/or guitar in a fun social group atmosphere! Group piano class provides students an excellent introduction to the keyboard and prepares them for more serious private study as well as playing in a band/ensemble. Most importantly, students will begin to develop the skill of playing music with their peers which provides a lifelong benefit. B2R takes a modern approach to keyboard education and students will benefit from our carefully thought-out curriculum that incorporates all of the latest software and music technology. Using digital keyboards, students will be able to simulate a wide variety of musical instruments and styles (rock, orchestral, etc.). They also will gain exposure to modern music-making techniques using programs such as Reason and ProTools. B2R teachers will focus on developing the students’ core skills: hand position, note-reading, chord vocabulary, rhythm, and theory while rehearsing a repertoire of rock, pop, and classical songs.

Swimming:

Pre-K-6th grade
Each instructional swim class is structured to best suit the individual students' abilities and comfort levels.  The children will work in small groups with trained swim instructors.  In addition to the swim instructors in the pool, there will be a certified lifeguard to supervise the children at all times. *Please allow 15 minutes for changing on both ends of class.

Soccer:

Pre-K-6th grade
Coach Arthur promotes teamwork and sportsmanship while teaching the kids the skills to become great soccer players. Students start by learning the basics and competing in team games all while having fun!

Mad Science
:
 

PreK - 3rd grade
Mad Science “Funky Forces”
Through the course of Funky Forces and more, children will play engineer, chemist—and stunt pilot! Children will investigate physics fundamentals and bring their scientific minds to basic magic tricks. Your Mad Scientists will be shocked by what they learn about electricity, blown away by their experiments with air pressure,and swept away by the excitement of working with waves!

Cooking:

Let’s get our cooking on! The EDCJCC hallways smell of their amazing creations every Friday. Everyone is a participant in creating delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy.

Lego Engineering®

Pre-K-2nd grade

Intro to STEM with LEGO® - SPRING

Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as Trains, Helicopters, Treehouses, and Beam Bridges. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.

Yoga

Maria, our yoga instructor presents a playful approach to yoga!  Develops focus, flexibility, strength, and coordination through a variety of yoga poses, stories, songs, drawings, and games.

School Age Theater Class (new) 

PreK-1st grade

Explore creative play with Teaching Artist Katie McCreary by using your body, voice, and imagination to learn beginning acting skills all in the context of fun games and big choices!  Students will use their natural energy to tell stories in a new and exciting way.

2nd-5th grade

Use your actor tools to explore the world!  Students will learn creative play, improvisation, how to focus their energy, and storytelling all in the context of basic acting skills and lots of fun.

Tradition! Bringing Judaism to Life (new) 

Ages 4-6

Bringing Judaism to life! For children ages 4-6, experience the best part of Jewish traditions and learn about the history behind it all.  Set in a pluralistic setting and a hands on environment, we connect through music, arts and crafts and group engagement.

Yom Rishon: 

Yom Rishon is the EDCJCC’s Sunday morning Judaic program, for children currently in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. This exciting new curriculum is designed to encourage a connection to the Jewish community through art, music, stories, food and experiential hands-on learning. We utilize the Center’s extensive resources to create fun-filled mornings and informal Jewish learning experiences.  Some of the topics covered include: holidays, life cycle, symbols, Israel, tzedakah, Jewish values, cooking, singing, and much more! YOM RISHON WILL BEGIN ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2016 and go through May 21, 2017.
