FAMILY PROGRAMS

The Edlavitch DCJCC FAMILY PROGRAMS are designed with your family in mind. We merge high quality experiential activities with an informal camp-like atmosphere. Dedicated to serving and supporting our diverse community, we create safe space to explore Jewish values amidst the messy, joyful chaos that is raising kids in an urban environment in the modern world. Organized around the Jewish calendar and Shabbat we offer: monthly celebrations, pool parties, carnivals, story time and other kid friendly activities for children aged 2-8. All families are welcome—you don't have to be Jewish to find a home at the EDCJCC.

Summer Programs:

Sunday, June 3, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
BEANS, BASIL, AND BEES: A FAMILY GARDENING WORKSHOP
Want to learn about starting your very own container garden, dig in the dirt and learn about composting, and meet some urban beekeepers who are helping our city retain its native bee populations? Join us for this family-focused event with workshops run by Love and Carrots, Compost Cab and Capitol Bee Care. Enjoy garden-themed snacks and take home your own container garden starter kit!

Saturday, June 16, 5:30 - 6:30 pm
DRAG QUEEN STORY TIME & HAVDALAH
Join us for a fabulous and glamorous family Havdalah experience! There will be hands-on crafts, dress-up, costume activities, and a pizza dinner followed by local Drag Queens Miss Buffy Wilde and Cherry Snow reading stories with messages of tolerance and respect. We will close with a Havdalah ceremony.

Sunday, June 24, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
FAMILIES SERVING TOGETHER PARK CLEAN-UP
We will be partnering with the Rock Creek Conservancy to do a trash clean-up in Rock Creek Park. We will provide trashbags, gloves, and directions on trash pick-up - you just have to come ready to work!
