Director of Camp Programs – Edlavitch DCJCC


The Edlavitch DCJCC is seeking a Director of Camp Programs.  This person should be energetic, creative and organized in the planning of year round Camp Programs for children ages 4-17.  The Director oversees all aspects of the Summer Day Camp program, and works during the school year assisting the Director of School-Aged Programs with weekly programming.  Further, the Director coordinates with the Early Child Youth and Family (ECYF) team on special events during the year.  This position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

 Responsibilities include the following areas:

 Summer Day Camp


Oversee the programming of the summer day camp

Develop new specialty camps and enhance existing camps

Design, develop and oversee summer day camp curriculum, schedule and special events

Oversee the booking of field trips, vendors and transportation

Oversee CIT/LIT programs


Interview and hire summer day camp staff

Create and oversee the schedule of summer staff

Conduct and write staff reviews

Oversee all summer day camp staff

Provide all necessary and relevant staff trainings


Create and be responsible for the Camp budget in consultation with the CAO

Oversee the ordering and maintenance of Camp supplies


Design and maintain web pages and social media associated with EDCJCC Camp Programs

Oversee all marketing and p.r. aspects for the camp

Design the Summer Camp brochure

Develop camper recruitment marketing plan to meet camper enrollment



Maintain all aspects of the data base for Camp Programs

Process payments for Camp Programs


Professional Development:

Attend relevant conferences and training, including Camp Hub support



Hire and oversee all staff for No School Today, Winter and Spring Fun Camps

Staff all No School Today/Spring Fun and Winter Fun Camp days during school year


Create schedules and activities for No School Today, Winter and Spring Fun Camp Days

Book all vendors and transportation

 Website/ Marketing:

Oversee all marketing for School Year Camp Programs

Maintain web pages and social media associated with EDCJCC school year camps

 Special EDCJCC Events:

Assist in the planning and development of weekend special events, such as the Chanukah and Purim Celebrations, and other events as needed

Attend the EDCJCC’s Annual Meeting and Gala


Qualifications include the following:

Education requirement:  Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Education, camp administration or related area of study preferred.  Prior camp experience as an assistant director, counselor or unit head preferred.


Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft office products) and online media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)

Able to work as part of a team as well as independently on projects

Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills

Start date:  February 1, 2018

Theater J

Part-Time Audience Services Associate
The Audience Services Associate provides box office and front of house support to ensure the highest level of customer service for our patrons through every stage of their ticket purchase process and visit for performances. 
Responsibilities include daily box office duties such as assisting subscribers and single ticket buyers with questions, exchanges, directions, purchases, and donations. The Audience Services Associate also participates in the annual subscription campaign, assists with group reservations and other tasks assigned by the Director of Patron Services.

During performances, ticketing responsibilities include preparing will call tickets and completing sales reports for day-of-show purchases. House management responsibilities include welcoming and cultivating patrons, overseeing front of house operations, supervising volunteer ushers, managing concessions, and aiding audience members to make their visit rewarding.

Daytime box office shifts available Monday through Friday from 12 to 4 pm, and additional box office and house managing shifts available based on the performance schedule, which includes nights and weekends.

• Experience using a customer database, POS, or ticketing system.
• Strong customer service skills in person, in writing, and over the phone.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
• Direct house management and ticketing experience preferred but not required.

Early Childhood, Youth & Family

Director of Inclusion and Disability Programming

The Edlavitch DCJCC, located in the Dupont Circle area of Downtown D.C., is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week – Part-Time B) Director of Inclusion and Disability Programming.  This person works closely with the Chief Administrative Officer to oversee the Inclusion and Disability Program at the EDCJCC.  This newly developed program includes: Vocational Volunteering, Educational Workshops, Social, and Fitness components, and currently serves approximately one hundred young adults.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

Inclusion Programs: Vocational Volunteering, Educational Workshops

  • Oversee Vocational Volunteers, including scheduling their participation

  • Communicate weekly with school partners, vocational volunteers, etc.

  • Coordinate and Communicate with all departments at the EDCJCC for Vocational Training jobs, i.e.: Theater, Film, Membership, Community Service, etc.

  • Recruit, oversee, coordinate and communicate with all internship sites, including pre-site visits

  • Implement, modify, and develop the vocational volunteer curriculum and develop new curriculum

  • Staff ‘Your Path to Success’, Educational workshops, and all other vocational programming

Inclusion Programs: Social, Fitness, Buddy-Up Program

  • Support the Inclusion Programming Manager with all Social and Fitness Programs

  • Support the Inclusion Programming Manager with the Buddy Up Program

  • Work Collaboratively with the Inclusion Programming Manager to develop new programs

  • Maintain positive relationships with school partners, vendors, contractors, families, and young adults

  • Outreach to new families, vendors, and school partners

Administrative Duties

  • Set-up and monitor event pages for registration

  • Responsible for updating the Inclusion Website, and Bi-Weekly Newsletters

  • Prepare materials for marketing sets

  • Order supplies, create POs, and do staff timesheet approvals

  • Create and oversee the Inclusion Annual Budget,  in collaboration with the Chief Administrative Officer

Other Responsibilities

  • Support Inclusion Programming Manager with all job responsibilities related to Summer of Service Inclusion Camp

  • Oversee and manage Inclusion Staff and Interns

  • Oversee and Staff the Inclusion Committee

  • Develop, Modify, and implement trainings for staff

  • Attend staff inclusion programs as needed

We are looking for a strong programmer who is detail oriented and is comfortable with scheduling, finances, and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  The ideal candidate will also be comfortable with technology and computers.

Early Childhood Part-Time Teachers:

Part-time teachers must be over the age of 18 and have experience working with young children.  Teachers must be flexible, energetic, and warm.  Good communication skills with children and adults are necessary as well as a desire for continued learning and professional development.  Experience with a Reggio-inspired curriculum and Judaic knowledge a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience and education.  Part-time teachers receive a free Fitness Membership to the EDCJCC in Washington, D.C.

Early Childhood Music Teacher
