Early Childhood, Youth and Family

Registrar and Administrative Associate

This position works closely and collaboratively with the Early Childhood, Youth, and Family (ECYF) management team of six people in taking care of some of the administrative and financial aspects of the following programs: Preschool, Camp, Parenting Center, Family Engagement, and Youth/Family Programs.  Further, this position will be responsible for overseeing various general administrative tasks within the EDCJCC, including co-sponsorship rentals to outside groups that use the facilities.  The person will work closely with the Executive Assistant to schedule overall room usage.  The Registrar and Administrative Associate reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

Administrative Duties:

    • Oversee preschool student files needed for the school and licensing agencies
    • Be the liaison between the preschool and DC immunization agency
    • Oversee the lunch and snack components of the preschool
    • Other administrative tasks as needed for ECYF Department
    • Oversee all aspects of co-sponsorship rental space to outside groups wishing to use the facility, including both one-time and ongoing usage groups and individuals
    • Oversee the p.r. and marketing related to co-sponsorship rental space
    • Working collaboratively to schedule room usage throughout the building
    • Oversee the supplies and maintenance of office equipment throughout the building


Accounting Duties:

    • Managing monthly preschool tuition, camp,  parenting center, and aftercare accounts receivables
    • Oversee CampMinder billing system for the Department
    • Manage overall ECYF accounts receivables
    • Manage communications with families pertaining to financial issues

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years' experience working in an organization or company in some type of administrative/business role. We are looking for a strong administrator who is detailed oriented and is comfortable with scheduling, finances, and general bookkeeping.  The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology and computers, and also has good interpersonal and communication skills.

Membership Sales Associate Director

Overall responsibility: The Membership Sales Associate Director works closely with the Member Services Director at the Edlavitch DCJCC to attract and retain members, providing excellent onboarding contact and information as well as outstanding ongoing member/customer service. The Associate Director must be outgoing, proactive, organized, and self-motivated. This person also assists management in meeting membership financial objectives. Full time and part time applications welcome.

This position requires Sunday and evening work.

Specific Responsibilities include, but not limited to:


    • Achieve monthly sales goals set by Membership and Management team.
    • Actively develop leads for prospective members.
    • Respond to telephone and email membership inquiries, booking and maintaining appointments for tours.
    • Provide enthusiastic and informative tours.
    • Educate prospective members on the benefits of health and wellness.
    • Promote additional services, programs, and products to new and existing members.
    • Up-sell personal training and manage intake forms and initiate the scheduling process with Wellness Manager. Follow all PT sales to completion of first scheduled appointment.
    • Complete all membership paperwork accurately for new members, including application and required personal training forms. Process daily point of sale payments. Setup future invoice payment plans. Track and report daily activity with prospects and daily membership sales.
    • Maintain familiarity with all EDCJCC programs and happenings and the overall event calendar.
    • Act as concierge for member requests for membership and other program questions, always maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring that the member’s needs have been met. Follow inquiries and requests to completion, even when passed to another staff member.
    • Respond to all member requests in 24 hours or less. Be available during membership open business hours for walk in requests and concerns.
    • Be the J’s “good will” ambassador within and outside the center walls.  Say, “Hi!” and smile when greeting members.
    • Work closely with EDCJCC reception


    • Actively seek out opportunities to market the EDCJCC Fitness Center.
    • Distribute passes, fliers, and other materials to create traffic flow of prospective members.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local business and residential buildings to create traffic flow of prospective members.
    • Develop relationships with existing members and encourage member referrals
    • Assist with member engagement emails and social networking (Facebook) as needed.
    • Maintain marketing materials in the office and ensure that membership packets are readily available to staff and to the Q St reception desk.
    • Update monthly/event related template flyers for internal posting.



    • Maintain accurate Daily Sales Report
    • Process daily credit card, check, and cash transactions and report to accounting and to Member Services Director.
    • Run End of Shift reports for all work days, turn in cash and checks to accounting and copies of all reported sales to the Membership Director.
    • Plan and track expenses for any outreach marketing/events. Work with Director to ensure that all outreach efforts are within budget.
    • Complete and submit paperwork to assure prompt payment of vendors and accurate accounting


    • Attend Fitness/Membership Committee meetings upon request.
    • Assist Membership Director in keeping membership accounts for board members up to date.
    • Know your committee members.


    • Be the lead staff person providing daily lunch and break relief for the front reception desk.
    • Other duties as needed.


    • 3-5 years sales experience
    • 5 + years customer service experience
    • Personal and/or professional experience with fitness centers
    • Excellent skills working with member databases and Excel
    • Working understanding of social media platforms

Health and Fitness Manager


Delivering exceptional customer service

    • Assist with daily operations of fitness center: administrative duties, customer service interactions with members and guests,program coordination, facility maintenance/repair/improvement coordination, and budget planning and reporting
    • Handle point of sale transactions, as requested, for the department
    • Schedule fitness programs and bookings, as requested, for the department

Supervising fitness floor, including desk staff, and exercises

Ensuring proper maintenance of equipment

Assisting members with reaching, and promote, personal fitness and training goals

    • Assist with new member onboarding efforts
    • Provide fitness, personal training, group exercise, sports, and aquatic programming and facility/equipment orientations
    • Administer fitness assessments; health consultations, and exercise testing
    • Provide fitness results counseling
    • Assist with planning, delivery and evaluation of health promotion programs

Assisting other staff with marketing efforts and initiatives


    • Bachelor's degree
    • 1-3 years experience preferred

Community Service

Program Associate

The Morris Cafritz Center for Community Service (MCCCS) is seeking an energetic and highly organized individual to join our team as a Program Associate. Working closely with the department’s two professional staff members, the Program Associate will support a variety of high-impact volunteer programming that the EDCJCC offers the community, including Behrend Builders projects, major Days of Service, and monthly volunteering. The Program Associate will also assist with the EDCJCC’s daily lunch program for seniors.


Your specific responsibilities will include:


Days of Service

    • Help with all logistics for Everything But The Turkey (EBTT)

    • Coordinate all details and logistics with service sites for December 25th Day of Service (D25)

    • Organize donations and programming for Volunteer Lounge during D25

    • Assist with all gift-wrapping for D25

 Behrend Builders

    • Establish and maintain relationships with both individual clients and agencies we serve, including community centers, schools, and non-profit organizations

    • Assess and evaluate potential project sites together with the Director of Behrend Builders

    • Acquire supplies needed for projects, both through donations and purchasing

    • Recruit and communicate with Behrend Builders volunteers and Team Captains

    • Provide full administrative support, including maintaining records, processing in-take forms, and tracking receipts and spending


General MCCCS Support

    • Maintain the MCCCS Facebook page

    • Research and recruit new partner agencies

    • Assist with updating and maintaining website and database

    • Represent the MCCCS at outside events and programs as needed

    • Assist with development functions such as researching and writing grants, preparing major mailings, and cultivating supporters

    • Market our programs via community calendars, listservs, etc.

    • Other duties as assigned

Early Childhood Part-Time Teachers:

Part-time teachers must be over the age of 18 and have experience working with young children.  Teachers must be flexible, energetic, and warm.  Good communication skills with children and adults are necessary as well as a desire for continued learning and professional development.  Experience with a Reggio-inspired curriculum and Judaic knowledge a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience and education.  Part-time teachers receive a free Fitness Membership to the EDCJCC in Washington, D.C.

Early Childhood Music Teacher
