We are proud to welcome authors to the EDCJCC throughout the year. These programs provide our community with a chance to hear from writers about their lives and works, as well as opportunities to think deeply about arts and ideas, about authors and stories, and timely topics.

Thank you to all who attended and participated in the Washington Jewish Literary Festival! This year’s festival line-up included a Local Authors Fair; a discussion on parenting with Rabbi Susan Silverman, Dr. Carla Naumburg, and Marjorie Ingall; an exploration of Maya Benton’s Roman Vishniac Rediscovered; and a performance of the hit public radio series Selected Shorts. We still have one event left that was rescheduled due to inclement weather: Noa Baum: Solo Show and Book Talk. We encourage you to come out for this final, unique Litfest performance!

Noa Baum: Solo Show and Book Talk
Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 PM
Author and storyteller Noa Baum opens this year’s festival with a unique presentation that combines performance and text from her recent memoir, A Land Twice Promised: An Israeli Woman’s Quest for Peace.

In this touching and honest memoir, Baum shares the story of how her search for peace informed her life… Baum’s genuine desire to make a difference may well inspire others to do the same. —PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

Edlavitch DCJCC Writer's Workshop
Sundays, May 14 and June 11 at 3:00 PM
The Writer's Workshop will meet monthly for two consecutive months and will provide a space where a supportive and diverse group of writers can receive feedback on their poetry, memoir, and fiction. Award-winning author and teacher Michelle Brafman has been leading this group since its inception. Prompts will be assigned, but any work is acceptable. No written critiques or preparation is required, just bring your work and a willingness to engage in your fellow writers' words.

New students must apply before registering!
To apply, please email shirleys@edcjcc.org with a 2-4 page writing sample from the poetry, memoir or fiction genres and two paragraphs describing your goals for participation in the workshop.
